**The following story is written by a survivor of domestic violence and abuse. Names have been changed to protect all involved.**<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m sharing my story because I was with my abuser for 7 years. Without even knowing he was manipulating me. He was getting mind control over me and destroying my confidence and soul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until it escalated more and more and it was too late. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Story of Lies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I always asked why so many people never believed me, or why no one ever pulled me aside to ask if I was okay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After getting out and talking to counselors, they explained it\u2019s because he was manipulating the situation. Creating a scenario where it was me as the bad person in people\u2019s eyes and minds. Only telling his story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So he could play the victim keeping his reputation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it wasn\u2019t just him abusing me it was his mother as well. She would wish for my death and message me telling me what she thought my worth was. Messaging my childrens’ schools and DHS creating me to be the person her son would make me out to be and then exaggerating more lies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do I Stay for the Kids?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Three kids. We have three kids together and he hit me, pushed me, slapped me, yelled in my face belittling me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, I started to believe I was the problem and I needed to change all in front of the children. That was my life story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He would throw cigarettes at me and throw things at me like I was garbage a waste of skin. I couldn\u2019t take it anymore. I wanted to die but not because I hated my life (I did), but because I wanted to cure his anger. Also, I wanted to end the hurt of whatever I did so he could have a happy life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being away now makes me hate myself for being so stupid. For beating myself down because of what a man who never loved me showed me how I should see myself. For believing his story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
