Descriptions and details may be too graphic for some. Names have been changed to protect all involved.**<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Surviving Abuse as a Transgender Teen in an Unsafe Home<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m sixteen years old,&nbsp;transgender (female-to-male), though at times I feel&nbsp;nonbinary or in between. I\u2019m also&nbsp;autistic, have&nbsp;ADHD, and live with&nbsp;C-PTSD&nbsp;from years of trauma. These parts of me matter because they shape how I experience the world\u2014and, sadly, how people have used my differences against me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My story isn\u2019t easy to tell. I\u2019ve experienced abuse most of my life and still live in a home that isn\u2019t safe. I\u2019m writing this because&nbsp;I want to survive, and I want someone to finally listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Early Years: Betrayal and Trauma<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My biological father began abusing me when I was still a small child\u2014just three or four years old. What he did was horrific. He hurt me physically, sexually, and emotionally for years. His girlfriend joined in the abuse, and his friends did too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My mom shared custody with him, so I was forced to return again and again. When I was at my mom\u2019s home, I wasn\u2019t safe there either. Her ex-husband abused me, my mom, and my stepsister. He controlled us financially, emotionally, and physically until I was about eleven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those experiences taught me fear before I even understood what safety was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Present: Living With My Abuser<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, the person hurting me is my own mother. She uses&nbsp;cruel control masked as concern. She twists my words, mocks my trauma, and punishes me for needing space. When I try to calm down, she stares at me with anger until I\u2019m terrified. She won\u2019t let me call for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She takes my&nbsp;phone, my main coping tool, so I can\u2019t reach out to my therapist or friends. she records me during panic attacks or flashbacks, then&nbsp;shows the videos to police or relatives, twisting the story to make it seem like I\u2019m unstable. When I showed officers injuries from when she hit or choked me, they still said I was lying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\u2019s even invaded my privacy\u2014recording me in the shower while half-dressed&nbsp;and FaceTiming relatives during it. That violation never leaves my mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Surviving Abuse: When Identity Becomes Another Weapon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My mom constantly brings up the fact that I\u2019m transgender\u2014but only to try to shame or silence me. She tells me I\u2019m not allowed to talk about it, claims people online have \u201cbrainwashed\u201d me, and says she\u2019s protecting me from \u201cmental harm.\u201d But it\u2019s&nbsp;not protection\u2014it\u2019s control and erasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My being transgender isn\u2019t the problem. Her refusal to respect or understand who I am is. I\u2019ve never been \u201cinfluenced\u201d by strangers online\u2014I\u2019ve simply done my own research, trying to understand myself in a world that punishes people like me for existing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The System Fails Too<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve asked for help\u2014again and again. The police, teachers, and even some mental health professionals have dismissed me because I \u201cdon\u2019t have proof.\u201d But that\u2019s impossible when my evidence\u2014my phone, my space, my autonomy\u2014is taken from me. They see me as a \u201cdifficult teen\u201d instead of a traumatized child stuck in an abusive system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No one should have to prove they\u2019re being hurt to deserve safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Anyone Reading This<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve been through or are living through something like this,&nbsp;you\u2019re not alone. Abuse thrives in silence, especially when you\u2019re young, LGBTQ+, or neurodivergent. But your story matters. You deserve to be believed and supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m still surviving\u2014and I\u2019m still here. I want a life defined not by fear, but by freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are experiencing abuse or know a young person who is, please reach out for help.
