How to Donate to the Angel Fund

By Jenn Rockefeller

The Angel Fund is an annual event hosted by Break The Silence Against Domestic Violence (BTSADV) to honor the memory of loved ones lost to domestic violence.

This event brings people together from all over the world to help raise awareness about domestic violence and recognize the signs of a violent relationship. This event gives grieving families the opportunity to break their silence about losing their loved one and share their stories.

The money that is donated goes into the Angel Scholarship Program, which funds academic scholarships, the Angel Family Retreat and adopts all the Angel Babies for the Holidays of Hope Program. Last year’s event raised over $31,000, which included 299 donors.

So how can you donate to this year’s Angel Fund?

One of the easiest ways to donate to the Angel Fund is through the text-to-donate campaign that BTSADV runs through Mobile Cause – a fundraising platform. This is an all-in-one page that lists each Angel Team and their individually run fundraisers, as well as each person who has made a donation. Visiting this page allows you to donate to the Angel Fund as a whole or donate to a specific Angel’s scholarship.

You can also donate to our campaign by texting “Angel 22” to 71777.

During the Angel Fund, families can set up their own local events, ranging from a walk-a-thons to bake sales, and from bowling nights to car washes. “Families will be provided a toolkit to give them fundraising pointers, event ideas, branded marketing to use if they decide to create a local event,” said Nanette Chezum, the Angel Fund Director. For more ideas on setting up your own local event, you can contact Nanette at nanette@breakthesilencedv.org

You can also keep your eyes out for some events to be posted to the BTSADV Facebook page, too!

If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, there is help. You can visit the Break the Silence website at www.breakthesilencedv.org or chat with one of our helpline advocates at 855-287-1777.
