My Story – Angela

I am a domestic violence victim and I’m here to share my story. On April 17th 2023 was a very scary night for me. I thought this man really cared about me. We went to a family gathering and everyone was drinking, dancing and having fun. I knew I was driving so I didn’t drink much. Well, my ex was very intoxicated and kept looking at me shaking his head. I glanced at him because I could feel him looking at me. He got up and stormed out of the door so I left behind to see what was going on and he jumped in his truck so I got in with him. We pulled off and his sister called me and asked why we left so I said he’s drunk. She said turn the radio down so I did and he says “ TOUCH MY RADIO AGAIN IMA BUST YOUR HEAD”. So I turned the radio down again so he could hear what his sister was saying. This man hit me in my head and I was so shock I just kept saying you hit me. We begin tussling and my mouth caught his thumb and I bit him. We were tussling up until we pulled up to his house. Well you can’t open the door on the passenger side so I had to Waite for him to open the door. He opens my door and he pulled me out the truck and started beating me in my head. As I’m trying to get away he would grab me and continue to hit me. When I made it in the house he came behind me and kept hitting me, hitting my head against the walls. As I’m trying to fight back he picked up a metal plant stand and hit me in the back of my head. He then goes to room and when he came out he pulled a knife out at me. I looked at that knife and by the grace of god I snatched the knife and threw it. He continued to beat me as I was trying to get out the front door he threw me down and started beating me and stomping so all I can do is cover my head with my hands. He took me and threw me off of the porch and kept kicking me until my body rolled up against the house. I then felt something hovering me and told me to look away and I did listen to that voice. I waited and when he went in the house I ran to a neighbor house and ring the bell and banged on the door he said she’s not going to open the door so I ran to another neighbor house and she opened the door for me and so I called the police from her phone because he threw my phone. The police came and he gave my phone back to me. He was arrested and I was put in an undisclosed location for a month. My victim advocate came and took me to a hotel. I contacted my sisters house and they helped me through everything. It’s time for us women who have gone through emotional, physical and mental abuse to come forward and put the abuser on blast because they act like nothing happened. It took a lot out of me . God and my angel never left my side. Tee thank you for being there for me your a true friend. I’m a survivor and I thank god for protecting me. I forgive him but I will never forget what he did but I know one thing for certain he isn’t a role model for any of his children. I pray god works on him because he is going to suffer for the rest of his sorry life.
