My Story – Jeri

I was married to a narcissist that they teach about in classes. We had been married 40 years before the very physical abuse started. Four children were born, the oldest boy committing suicide at age 23, and he had the nerve to use this has one of his reasons. His reasons changed daily from I cheated on him before we we dating; yes, he said that. He abused pain meds and diazepam and that mad him do it. The red flags were always there and I ignored them. He fought with my mother, father, sisters, brother-in-law in my family and his. It was his way or not. He cheated with people, he was on dating sites. He was texting and calling all kinds of women and he didn’t know our Apple phones were sinked up, so I saw everything. He would beat me so bad, I had to learn to use super heavy concealer or not leave the house until the bruises healed. He lied about my absence with brain aneurysms, great cancer, throat cancer, or I just didn’t want to leave the house. He lied to people about being in the Navy; he never made it out of boot camp. He was home in 2 weeks, yet he tells these stories of his days in Viet Nam. He never left New Jersey. When the beatings started were brutal and continued to become worse. He would urinate me, make me strip and throw me out of the house in the middle of the winter. He threaten to kill my dogs or burn the house to the ground if I left. He broke my nose at least 3times, numerous fingers, 4 ribs. I recently found out I had a cervical fracture that had healed wrong, and that’s why I have a hump in my neck. He choked me out of consciousness to many time to count and would wake up and say he didn’t remember doing any of the beatings. The skin on my arms have been torn and he stabbed me in the arm. The night before I ran for my life was a brutal attack after attack. I knew my life was in danger and I would not survive another night. So March 17,2019, after securing a safe place for my dogs, I ran for my life and never looked back. I divorced him immediately and he was sentenced to 5 years in State Pen. With time already served and our Governor Murphy making room and giving good behavior, he got out in 3, with 5 years probation and a lifetime PPO. So he now collects 100 o/o VA disability and bought himself a truck and house after help from Veterans Administration. They should be ashamed of themselves. Two of my children and all of my grandchildren want nothing to do with him. My oldest daughter has talked to him, she wanted answers. She gets excuses. I told my children, he was their father and it was up to them if they wanted a relationship. I would never stop them over any guilt being on my side . I am doing well, bought a home, buried my 2 dogs from old age since, and rescued 2 adorable pups. I truly wish there were groups people could go to like Al-Anon, just to talk and share experiences and try to help those not so lucky as myself to escape for a maniac. Thank you for your tim
