My story – Karen S

Hi my name is Karen, I was in a domestic violence relationship for 4 years. My ex whom I have 3 children by began being physically abusive in 2007. We had our first child together in March of 2008. When I was pregnant he tried to suffocate me. He broke my nose one night when we got home with our infant son and his dad had to call the police. When I was pregnant with our 2nd son the abuse continued. It continued until after I had my 3rd son with him. At some point I moved out and went to stay with a friend. One night he wanted to meet and talk. He went to raise his hand to do something and I jumped. He laughed and said “What are you jumping for? Trust me, next time I put my hands on you somebody dying and somebody going to jail.” I ending the relationship right there. I moved in my new place December 2010 and I would allow him to come visit the boys. June 9th, 2011 he had a child support appt and I guess he was heated from that because we fought that entire day with police being called 3-4 times and they did nothing. it was after 12am (Which made it June 10,2011) He stabbed me 19 times and left me for dead in my bathroom. I ended up with a punctured lung and it collapsed. I had to be resuscitated. They worked on me all the way to the hospital and all the way up until they finally got a pulse.
