“Seeking Justice: My Struggle to Find Truth and Accountability After a Traumatic Assault” by Erica S

Was sexually assaulted by my 3 month bf after he had too much to drink I had to punch him off of me to get him to stop trying to force himself on me and the police charged me with harassment and made me spend the night in jail. They refused to reopen the case after I discovered my phone had been stolen and my ex even left a suspicious goodbye letter stating that he was sorry for his part in all of what went down. His statement also clearly states that he continued to touch me even after I told him and gestured to him that I didn’t want him to. I am now waiting in my court date Jan 9 I have justice gaiter from Geneva family counseling advocating for me. Every time I go to get a police report to hand in to my insurance company for my phone they tell me he didn’t steal it because they patted him down and they continue to be defensive about the entire event protecting him and their lack of judgement with prosecution. They are abusing their power and doing minimal work to make sure the community is safe. They are not caring for the community like their mission statement promises. My ex wasn’t even from my community and they are more concerned about protecting their initial word than actually looking at the evidence and making things right.
