When I was 9 years old my dad threatened my mom to leave the house. He was extremely physically abusive. My mom told all 3 of us we had to leave, we packed the car trunk with what we could and escaped to a domestic violence shelter. Long days at the social service offices, eating meals at churches next to the homeless, and watched my mom struggle but She never gave up.
