My story- Aubrey W

In 2018 I met my first husband, our relationship started off great, however we moved very quickly. The first incident 3 months into our relationship, I found him talking to other girls, he shook me around by my hair. He immediately apologized, I told myself it would never happen again. Shortly I became pregnant, he moved me away from my family, my entire pregnancy was miserable. I was threatened daily, yelled at, and he smacked me once. Each time he would apologize and I would say it wouldn’t happen again. We got married in 2020 and things became worse. He would tell me in detail how he would murder me, he would choke me, put me in headlocks, slap me, punch me, throw things at me, drag me by my hair through the house. All with our infant son in the home and sometimes right next to us. One day I made the decision to leave and decided to tell my family while he was at work. They found someone to meet me somewhere for my escape. I kept all messages deleted consistently. I told him I had to go to the grocery store, at my trip to the store I purchased a prepaid sim card and hid it under the bottom of my vehicle center console. I put a few clothes in trash bags telling him they were things I was donating. He was a tow truck driver so I had someone report a fake tow call long enough away for me to grab my child, our few belongings and leave. I met the people transporting me at a local fast food restaurant. I moved everything to their vehicle, left my vehicle there, immediately blocked him and all contacts we had in common, threw my old SIM card out, turned off all of my location services and left. I moved back in with my parents in a different state. I have had numerous of resources through domestic violence shelters, they provided free legal services and I have won my divorce and custody battle. I am now happily remarried with 2 more babies. I am so thankful I survived this situation.
