“From Surviving to Thriving: My Journey through Domestic Violence and Hope for the Future” by April L

I just wanted to share more of my story to maybe be posted as inspiration for some I was in two domestic violence relationships for 11 years combined . Both are fathers to my daughters. I’ve had my teeth busted my head split open , I’ve been punched in the face, stolen from , strangled in front of my child and now had one of my children taken for reporting DV . I had to flea several states and am still fighting daily to get my daughter back from her father who is a firefighter and well known in the community where I live . All of my kids have suffered but we are still finding joy everyday with the women at the shelter where we are now and finally have some hope . Thinking of all survivors every single day to gain strength to keep fighting . If no one else has our backs we do 🤍 just keep going
