“Escaping Abuse: A Survivor’s Journey to Protecting Herself and Her Child”

I met my abuser in 2018. He moved to New Jersey I went down to visit him. His mother would lock me upstairs and He’d tell me who I could talk to. My family helped me get back home. He came back to my area a couple months later. I moved in with him thinking I’d be okay. He started being abusive towards me he’d shove me into the walls, tried to choke me. He would even try to drown my two kittens. He’d also rape me in my sleep. I wasnt aloud to talk to my own family. I knew i had to get away. When i tried to leave he shoved me into the wall, choked me and fractured my wrist and threatened me. My best friend and her dad helped me escape. I found out I was 3.5 months pregnant and found out he moved down to where I was staying. The threats continued and he was stalking me. I knew to get my life back and my sons life back I had to do something I took him to court for a protective order. Came out with the protective order and full custody of my son.
