Breaking Free: My Journey from Domestic Violence to Hope & Advocacy.

In 2011, I made the difficult decision to ( My Journey from Domestic Violence to Hope ) leave an abusive relationship after an incident that forever changed the course of my life. My abuser locked our three small children in a bedroom and refused to let me see them. Days later, Child Protective Services (CPS) arrived and delivered a heartbreaking ultimatum: if I didn’t leave, and they were called again, they would take my children. That was the final push I needed. I filed a temporary motion to move—and I never went back.

However, I quickly learned that leaving was only the beginning. Little did I know, the abuse I thought I had escaped was far from over. For the next eight years, my abuser stalked me relentlessly, determined to maintain control over my life from a distance. The trauma did not end at the separation—it evolved into a painful, drawn-out battle.

The child custody exchanges became a nightmare. Not only was I terrified, but my children would return home with physical marks and heartbreaking stories of abuse. As a mother, the emotional toll was unbearable. I knew I had to take action, so I filed in court, fighting fiercely to protect my children. Unfortunately, instead of finding the support I desperately needed, I encountered resistance and systemic barriers.

Even so, I refused to give up. My children deserved safety, peace, and a future free from violence.
