**The following is written by a survivor of domestic violence and abuse. Descriptions and details may be too graphic for some. Names have been changed to protect all involved.**

Hi, my name is Dianna. I was assaulted by my ex in 2020.

Fourteen hours of on and off strangulation. FOURTEEN HOURS.

He was involved in criminal activity. Then it all came crashing down on me. Because of him, I had to serve two and a half years in federal prison. That’s right, two years in prison.

What He Did

Apparently, he was making bank accounts in my name that I was unaware.

That is until I went to court. I now want to help others and share my story.

My Life Now

I also hold a yearly public event honoring the city’s police department and survivors for my community.

All in all, I am now thriving in life and have a different outlook on my life. Now I have more and believe that God has a purpose for me surviving.
